Orléans-Saran unit is part of the John Deere Power Systems business. Built in 1963, this John Deere location has successively been a tractor factory, then a construction equipment production site and became an engine factory in the mid 80’s. It currently develops, manufactures and markets 3, 4 and 6-cylinder PowerTech diesel engines meeting various emission standards for off-highway applications from 36 to 224 kW. In addition to powering John Deere green and yellow agricultural equipment, those engines are also integrated into hundreds of applications in the construction, power generation, material handling, industrial, agricultural and marine markets.
Orléans-Saran unit currently employs around 800 staff and recently produced its 2,5 millionth engine. Some strategic engines parts are machined here (crankshafts, connecting rods, blocks and 2 and 4-valve cylinder heads) while latest technologies are used in the engine assembly process.
This unit is also the headquarters of John Deere France SAS. An administrative centre (IT, Human Resources, Accounting, Quality and Supply Chain) and a Marketing Branch (responsible for engines Sales, Marketing and Customer Support in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia) are also hosted in Orleans-Saran unit.
