Meet the New 5EN and See a New Leader in Ag Tech Emerge at Hort Connections

Crestmead, Queensland (1 June, 2026) — John Deere will showcase its latest horticulture technology and specialty machinery at Hort Connections 2026 in Adelaide, and sponsor a new award at the Horticuture Awards for Excellence, to highlight the importance of improving efficiency, precision and sustainability for Australian horticulture.

As Australia and New Zealand's largest horticulture conference and trade show, Hort Connections will bring together more than 4000 delegates from across the industry at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 1-4 June.

John Deere is bringing its latest range of equipment and technology and will sponsor a new award at the Gala event to underline support for a critical industry.

Meet the new 5EN

The display features the new 5105EN specialty narrow tractor, alongside the 5ML orchard and vineyard tractor, Smart Apply™ precision spraying technology and a Precision Ag demonstration bench featuring the G5 Display, Starfire™ receiver and modem connected to John Deere Operations Center™. Greeting delegates on the concourse will be the impressive 6MH 155 high crop tractor.

John Deere Australia and New Zealand Marketing Manager for Small Ag and Turf, Erin Wagstaff, said the event provided an important opportunity to connect directly with growers and demonstrate technology tailored to horticultural production systems.

"Hort Connections is one of the most important events in the horticulture calendar and gives us the chance to demonstrate the efficiencies we are working hard to deliver to growers," Ms Wagstaff said.

"This year we're excited to display the new 5105EN specialty tractor, which has been purpose built for narrow vineyards and orchards, complementing the release of the 5ML.

"The 5EN has more power than before with a 105-horsepower option, and advanced precision to bring systems like AutoTrac™ to this sector."

Other enhancements in the cab include a new digital dash display, optimised right-hand console and throttle placement, USB-C ports for connectivity, an Electro-Hydraulic (EH) Hitch and an integrated armrest for ergonomic support. Lighting upgrades include LED work lights, headlights, and rear hitch lights as standard.

"This is a cab that is designed for growers and operators who may spend eight to 12 hours in the machine at peak times. Bringing it to Hort Connections gives people the chance to see these improvements up close," Ms Wagstaff said.

"Horticulture is an incredibly important sector for John Deere and we're continuing to invest in solutions that help growers operate more efficiently, and to bring them to events like Hort Connections to show our support for the industry."

New award for ag tech and mechanisation

John Deere has also thrown its support behind a new category at the Horticulture Awards for Excellence.

Ms Wagstaff said she is proud to be presenting the winner of the new Ag Tech & Mechanisation Award at the Gala Awards Dinner on 4 June.

"The award recognises an outstanding achievement in applying agricultural technology and mechanisation to advance horticultural production, efficiency, quality, or sustainability," Ms Wagstaff said.

The response to the inaugural Ag Tech & Mechanisation Award has been outstanding, with the judging panel narrowing a strong field to just five finalists.

"An important feature of this award is that it focuses on practical and innovative solutions that have been trialled or implemented in the past 12 months," Ms Wagstaff said.

"These are projects that have demonstrated clear problem-solving for horticultural production, improving the efficient use of water, energy or other resources, reducing environmental impacts and helping to build long-term resilience for growers and supply chains.

"They're inspirational people showing us how emerging technology can be integrated into farm businesses in an innovative way to make a real difference for us all, and John Deere wants to elevate these leaders on a national stage."
