TerrainCut™ Front and Wide-Area Mowers
ZTrak, QuikTrak, and commercial walk-behind Mowers
Overview
The John Deere Operations Center enables professional landscape contractors (PLC) and government agencies to manage their equipment more efficiently, increase productivity, and reduce labor costs.
By connecting their entire fleet, Operations Center becomes the one place for fleet operators to manage their equipment. Mowers, utility vehicles, compact tractors, construction equipment, even trucks and string trimmers can be connected and managed by the Operations Center.
- Any piece of mobile equipment with 12-V power, including competitive brands and trucks, can be connected using a JDLink™ M Modem.
- JDLink Sharing with the STIHL® Smart Connector can be used to track handheld products.

John Deere Operations Center
John Deere Operations Center is available on PC, Apple iOS, and Android mobile apps
The John Deere Operations Center brings equipment location, utilization, and maintenance planning together enabling fleet operators to make better-informed decisions across crews, jobs, and properties.
All connected equipment provides GPS location, equipment status, GPS speed, geofencing alerts, curfew alerts, key switch hours, and maintenance planning. The JDLink M Modem reports additional machine data on many models of late-model equipment. See chart below for commercial mowers.

Location and status
Operations Center map displaying past locations of a mower
Mobile view of Operations Center map showing GPS speed
The JDLink M Modem regularly transmits the location, utilization, and hours of operation of each piece of equipment in the fleet so it can be monitored in Operations Center.
- Location history - Display of map with current and past location. When the equipment is powered on, the GPS location is recorded every 1 to 5 seconds.
- GPS Speed - Maps current speed, based on GPS location data, so you can target operator training.
- Utilization - Displays equipment utilization in three states on equipment with a PTO:
- Working - PTO engaged
- Transport - PTO disengaged and moving (GPS speed present)
- Idle - PTO disengaged and stationary (zero GPS speed)
- Hours of operation - Reports the time of day the equipment has been operated.
- Geofencing - Alerts when equipment enters or exits a prescribed area, for example if it has been stolen or an operator entered an area that should not be worked.
- Curfews - Alerts if the equipment is operating outside prescribed times, for example residential areas with early-morning noise restrictions.
Engine hours
The modem regularly transmits the equipment’s engine hours to inform maintenance planning and balance use.
- Sync - The equipment reports actual engine hours to the Operations Center.
- Key - Engine hours are estimated by monitoring the key switch. Engine hours can be corrected in Operations Center.
Maintenance planner
Operations Center Maintenance Planner
Factory or custom maintenance plans can be established in Operations Center. Maintenance alerts are sent when engine hours reach maintenance intervals.
Machine Analyzer Tool
Operations Center Machine Analyzer Tool
On select products, the modem reports the time the equipment spent transporting, idling, and working. The Operations Center’s Machine Analyzer tool reports usage data which allows you to analyze operator behavior, identify causes of low productivity, and initiate corrective actions.
Fuel level and consumption
On select products, the modem reports the fuel level so you can dispatch fuel before your fleet runs low. Also, on select products an analysis of fuel consumption is available in the Operations Center Machine Analyzer Tool. Measuring fuel consumption enables you to address causes of excessive fuel use.
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
On select products, the modem transmits the trouble codes generated by the mower’s control units to the Operations Center. Addressing DTCs can reduce downtime and repair costs. For example, a low-engine oil pressure DTC can indicate an engine is low on oil. Addressing the issue can prevent costly downtime and repairs.
To help address issues quickly, when a DTC is generated, the Operations Center can display a push notification on the mobile app and send an email. Operations Center can also be configured to limit notifications to stop-level severity DTCs.
Service Advisor Remote
On select products, John Deere dealers can perform remote diagnostics, software programming, and adjustments without the cost of a service call.
Compatibility
A JDLink M Modem is standard equipment on:
- Model year 2024 and newer (SN 110,001-) TerrainCut Front Mowers
- Model year 2024 and newer (SN 690,001-) TerrainCut Wide-Area Mowers
- Model year 2026 and newer (SN 130,001-) Z997M and Z997R Diesel ZTrak Mowers
- Model year 2026 and newer (SN 010,001-) Z998R Diesel ZTrak Mowers
A JDLink M Modem can be field installed on the commercial mowing products listed below. Field installation attachments simplify modem installation, and include brackets, mounting hardware, harness, and instructions. Field installation requires a JDLink M Modem to be ordered separately. The field installation attachments include a wiring harness therefore the modem should be ordered with the less harness option code.
